This video shows how to create exam questions with Respondus software and format them with rich media, equations, and more. The Respondus exam questions are in a Canvas-compatible format.

Note: Respondus also allows you to import exam questions from other formats such as, plain text, rich text, doc, docx, csv, and xml files. See this How to Import Quiz Questions with Respondus tutorial.

Part I: Creating New Respondus file

Click Start In the “Currently Personality” section, select Canvas.
Select Create to create a new Respondus file.
Enter name of the file and Description.
In “Type of File” section, select Exam.
Click OK.

Part II: Adding Questions

In “Edit” tab, choose the question from the “Question Type” menu on the left.
Enter information in “Title of Questions,”” Question Wording,” “Answers”
Select the correct answer.
Enter point value.
Select Preview button to display the question as it will appear in Canvas exam.
Select Add to End of List
Note: The question will be added to the list in the bottom
Continue with steps 1-6 until the exam is complete.
Click the “Save” icon in the upper left corner to save the file.

Part III: Editing Questions

In “Question List” section, locate the question you want to change and click the down arrow to show the options.
Note: The options include preview, edit, delete, and move the question to the desired order.
Select Edit.
Make any changes you want. Click Power Edit if you want to change font style, add subscription/superscript, insert equation, or add Media File.
Click on Correct/Incorrect Feedback and enter feedback for Correct Answer or Incorrect answer Reply. Then, click OK.
Click Save changes.

Part IV: Preview + Publish

Select “Preview + Publish” tab. Then, select Preview the File.
Use < Prev or Next > to button preview each question.
Use Modify Item button to modify any question.
Click Close button to close the preview window.
